Yoga

Yoga - The word yoga means "union" in Sanskrit, the language of ancient India where yoga originated. It is thought to be the union occurring between the mind, body and spirit. Yoga is a thoroughly practical system which comprises a wide range of exercises and techniques.  Practising Yoga increases strength, flexibility, coordination and balance as well as helps to relax and manage stress. Its benefits can not only be felt physically, it helps us to focus and concentrate better, improves our overall health and well being.

I am offering group classes and private sessions (including pre-and postnatal privates) for all ages and levels in the Ealing area. My classes have derived from a diverse background in Dance, Pilates and Yoga.

When teaching, I like to pass on the experience I have gathered as a professional dancer and years of training in the movement field. Coming from a dance background I enjoy dynamic fluent moves in my own practice which I draw on for my teaching. Both my Pilates and Yoga training inform, affect and feed into each other. Yet I like to clearly differentiate between them. Often they compliment each other beautifully and then I will choose to mix them. My style of Hatha yoga has been influenced by various traditions such as Iyengar, Asthanga Vinyasa, Dynamic and Yin/Yang. I am grateful for my most recent advanced teacher training with Jason Crandell who has been hugely influential and inspiring to me. I now teach a Vinyasa flow class, integrating the best elements such as anatomical precision, dynamic movements and mindful awareness. I like to experiment with a variety of themes, sequences and postures to create a mindful but also fun practice. In my classes there is emphasis on coordination, movement quality, balance, breath awareness as well as stress management and relaxation. I like students to deepen their practice and connect to their inner selfs to improve their physical health as well as mental and spiritual wellbeing.

You can also practice with me on YouTube or join my video-on-demand platform for even more Pilates and Yoga.

VINYASA FLOW YOGA

Movements are connected with the breath keeping the practice flowing and alive. Each pose flows into the next creating a dynamic, fluent sequence. I structure my classes to follow a theme yet  I am attending to the needs of my students and the practice may change according to their needs. The class comprises limbers, sun salutations, standing poses, seated poses, inversions and relaxation.

Pregnancy Pilates Yoga Fusion (Private classes only)

During pregnancy Yoga and Pilates can help you to maintain healthy posture and to keep your muscles strong and well functioning. Good postural alignment can aid your baby to move into the optimal foetal position in the later stages of pregnancy. Releasing tension and relaxing the mind helps to keep calm and to reduce any fears or anxiety. Practicing breath awareness can help to stay connected to your body and deal with the pain during labour. During class you have time to concentrate fully on yourself and strengthen the bond with your baby thus helping to prepare both of you for a positive birthing experience and recovery afterwards.

Pilates

Pilates is a thoughtful and precise exercise system which was developed by Joseph Pilates. It is designed to build strength, mobility and flexibility, helps to reduce aches and pains and increases awareness, all in aid of improving posture and developing a balanced being. Pilates can help with recovery after injuries and can be adapted to suit people of all ages.

Join me for one of my live classes in Ealing or on zoom and book here, or practice with me on YouTube or on my video-on-demand platform from the comfort of your own home at a convenient time for you.

GROUP CLASSES

These classes are suitable for everyone wanting to improve their general fitness, health and well-being. If you are enjoying exercise in a group, these sessions will be right for you. My classes can accommodate all levels, if you have never done Pilates before or if you are an experienced practitioner. We will focus on strengthening our core, lengthening and stretching tight areas, improving balance between muscle groups that work too hard and others that may not engage enough. Moving slowly with focus, precision and quality helps us to understand our bodies better and therefore improve our posture and well-being. The class will also help you to slow down, relax and unwind. I am here to support you so that you can feel your best.

PRIVATE TUITION

Individual sessions are recommended to help with injuries or medical conditions. A tailored programme aids to specifically address your needs and assists with re-educating muscles and recovering safely from an injury. Private classes are also an effective way of progressing quickly and building confidence before joining a group class. If you are interested in deepening your practice, private tuition might be the right choice for you. Private Sessions will take place at your home and can be arranged to your convenience.
